Gmane News Server Synchronization

The forums are now being synchronized at Gmane, a news server synchronization service.

The synchronizations are read-only, meaning you cannot post from the news server to the forums.

The news server channels are available in the following group:

gmane.comp.web.oscommerce.*

The news server can be reached with a news client at:

news://news.gmane.org

or via a web browser at:

https://news.gmane.org

Advanced Search Logic Update

David Garcia Watkins has updated the advanced search logic to make the Price From and Price To parameters include the products tax when DISPLAY_PRICE_WITH_TAX is enabled.

Shipping Selection Update

A bug was fixed with the shipping method selection page in the new checkout procedure which prevented the customer choosing the rate of the shipping method when only one shipping module was active and had returned multiple rates.

Since the bug did not take note of what the customer had selected, it had forced the cheapest rate authomatically.

USPS Shipping Module Update

A bug was fixed with the USPS shipping module which prevented the customer from choosing the preferred rate.

Date Of Birth Logic Update

The safe work-around logic to the date of birth value has been updated again due to certain glibc libraries returning -1 on Linux servers.

RedHat 8.0 was one of the affected servers.

The updated logic now checks to see if the year returned is larger than the year provided by the customer, if it is the date returned is parsed through the work-around logic which until now affected only Windows servers.

To keep the logic compatible, the updated logic is no longer platform specific.

Checkout Procedure Progress Bar Update

Mark Evans has fixed the checkout procedure progress bar on the new checkout procedure which had cosmetic problems on certain browsers.
